We've been where you are. We know exactly how it feels to be sick, tired, overweight, overwhelmed, and frustrated about our health and weight status. Those exact feelings became our motivation to take action!


As a result of extensive research, nutrition and fitness education, and a lot of trial and error, we developed a strategy and coaching framework that allowed us to shed over 300lbs, keep it off for 17 years, and most significantly, improve our overall health.

As master nutritionist and health coaching duo, we are committed to increasing your nutrition awareness, knowledge, and understanding so you can create and sustain a healthy lifestyle that works for you.



Individual Coaching

Want more individualized support, nutrition guidance, and accountability that aligns with your health, weight, and lifestyle goals?

Through our individual coaching program, you will learn how identify individual lifestyle tipping points--small things that may or may not be working in the best interest of your health.


In addition, you will learn how to create a nutritional balance and healthy lifestyle that will sustain you beyond your weight loss goal.

After finishing my Doctorate, I realized I had gained 25 pounds in addition to a degree! After moving to New Orleans, I began working out as much as possible but nothing seemed to change.


I met Maleka and Eric when they were giving a talk on tracking food during this challenge. They helped me remove the emotion out of the struggle to lose weight. They have provided such amazing support while helping me laugh at myself at the same time.


Rather than feeling restricted with how much I can eat, I feel a much greater sense of control. I still have work to do but I am confident it’s only a matter of time instead of an unattainable “someday.”  I’m so grateful to my coaches!

"Betterchoices helped me to conquer my largest hurdle during my journey on weight loss… me!"

I have struggled with my weight since childhood. I’ve tried multiple diet and exercise plans, each leaving me with the experience of short-term success. Each time, manifesting feelings of frustration, anger, and hopelessness.  Then I met Eric and Maleka, who, through their individual coaching, helped me not only bolster my self-accountability but also to seek health as my ultimate goal.


The lessons that I learned have carried me through an initial 50-pound weight loss. This first milestone helped me reverse my new diagnosis of high blood pressure and pre-diabetes. The journey was not easy because I allowed myself to make a number of excuses as to why I was unable to keep my commitment to myself about improving my health.  My work, which included long days and high stress, were the biggest reasons I presented for my inability to maintain my commitments. I quickly learned that I was the only person who could make the changes necessary to ensure my health. If I didn’t learn how to hold myself accountable, I would never be able to live a long and healthy life.


Beyond our conversations about accountability and nutrition, our work together helped me to become the biggest advocate and protector of my health. I’m glad that I had what I learned in coaching to fall back on because when I started to plateau, and when my health and wellness efforts weren’t making sense, I was able to have conversations with my healthcare providers with a health-first perspective, that not only put me on the path to wellness but helped me to preserve my fertility.
