Doubt’s Lying to You. Here’s How to Shut It Down.

And start believing in who you’re becoming.

Let’s have an honest moment.


You’ve been showing up for yourself.

Making better choices.

You’re eating differently, thinking differently, maybe even moving differently.


And then…out of nowhere…

Doubt creeps in.


You hear it whisper:

“Can you really keep this up?”

“What if you fall off?”

“What if this isn’t the ‘real’ you?”


Let me stop you right there.


Doubt doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It means you’re doing something new.

And anything new—especially when it’s unfamiliar and uncomfortable—can feel like it’s not real, not yours, not sustainable.


But it is.


The work you’re doing?

The choices you’re making?

That’s not luck. That’s not temporary.

That’s you building belief.


And belief, my friend, is not a light switch.

It’s a practice. A skill. A process.


Just like changing your eating habits or your workout routine.

What you’re experiencing is normal.


According to the Transtheoretical Model (aka the Stages of Change), transformation doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in phases:


  1. Pre-contemplation: You’re not even thinking about change.

  2. Contemplation: You’re aware, but unsure.

  3. Preparation: You’re starting to plan.

  4. Action: You’re doing the thing.

  5. Maintenance: You’re working to keep it going.


Here’s the kicker:

Most people struggle between Action and Maintenance.

Not because they’re lazy.

But because they haven’t built the belief to match their new behavior.


So how do you do that?


Let’s walk through it just like we would in a coaching session.




🔑 5 Belief-Building Strategies to Shut Doubt Down


1. Catch the Doubt Before It Becomes a Story

You’ll feel it before you hear it. That little knot in your stomach. That subtle pull back toward “old you.” That’s when you check in.


Say it out loud:

“That’s doubt talking. Not truth.”


Because truth looks like action.

And you’ve already taken it.


Small thing, big difference:

Write down one thing you already did today to support your health.

Let it be your proof.



2. Stop Waiting to Feel Ready

Here’s the truth: You’re never going to feel 100% ready. We build belief by moving anyway. That first walk, that first glass of water, that first grocery trip—those are trust reps.


Motivation doesn’t create consistency. Consistency creates belief.

Small thing, big difference:

Choose one action today, no matter how small, that aligns with who you’re becoming.

Then do it without negotiating.



3. Stack Evidence, Not Excuses

Doubt thrives in silence.

But evidence silences doubt.

Track your wins. Take the selfie. Celebrate the meal prep.

Every little thing counts.


Small thing, big difference:

At the end of the week, list 3 things you did differently.

Not perfectly, just differently.

That’s growth. That’s belief in motion.



4. Challenge the “What If I Fall Off?” Loop

Let’s be real: That fear? It’s old programming.

You’ve “fallen off” before. So what?

You also got back up.


But now? You have tools. Support. Strategy. Awareness.

You’re not starting over; you’re starting wiser.


Small thing, big difference:

Write down one thing that’s different this time.

Put it where you can see it. Let it ground you when doubt hits.



5. Speak Like You Believe It

Watch your words.

“I’m trying” keeps you in limbo.

“I’m doing” anchors you in power.


You’re not hoping anymore.

You’re becoming. One choice at a time.


Small thing, big difference:

Pick a new affirmation. Something short. Say it out loud when you brush your teeth:

“I take care of myself. I keep showing up.”


Let your identity shift first. Your life will follow.

You don’t need to be perfect.

You don’t need more proof.

You just need to believe what your actions are already showing you:


You’ve changed.

You’re still changing.

And you’re not going back.


Doubt may still visit but it no longer gets to lead.
